Web Survey Bibliography
Schon früh hat sich die Marktforschung der neuen Möglichkeiten des Internets bedient. Anfänglich waren vor allem Online-Befragungen sehr beliebt, weil diese kostengünstiger und schneller sind als die bekannten Fragebögen auf Papier.
Seit einigen Jahren erfreut sich auch die passive Online-Messung immer größerer Beliebtheit. Die passive Online-Messung zielt darauf ab, das Online-Verhalten von Verbrauchern, ihr Browse- und Suchverhalten und die Wirksamkeit von Online-Werbung exakt zu messen. Während ein Online-Fragebogen nur die Übertragung einer bekannten Methode auf ein neues Medium ist, bedient sich die passive Online-Messung des gesamten Spektrums an Möglichkeiten des Internets. Das Online-Verhalten von Verbrauchern wird vollständig und objektiv registriert. Wo Fragebögen Meinungen widerspiegeln, registriert die passive Online-Messung wirkliches Verhalten, z.B. welche und wie lange Webseiten besucht wurden, welche Suchaufträge aufgerufen wurden oder welche Reklamebanner gezeigt wurden. Und wo die Länge und Frequenz von Fragebögen beschränkt bleiben, registriert die passive Online-Messung sämtliche Daten über Wochen, Monate oder sogar Jahre hinweg ohne das ein Proband aktiv mitarbeitet.
Grundsätzlich gibt es zwei Verfahren der passiven Online-Messung: server-basiert und panel-basiert. Bei der server-basierten Messung werden Internetseiten oder Reklamebanner um ein Trackingscript erweitert, welches Besuche aufzeichnet. Beim panel-basierten Verfahren erhalten Probanden eine Einladung und installieren für einen Incentive einmalig eine Applikation, die ihr Online-Browse-, Such- und Werbeverhalten aufzeichnet. Beide Verfahren erzeugen sehr detaillierte Daten. Die server-basierte Messung erfordert Zugriff auf Webseiten und Banner und kann daher nur Daten von teilnehmenden Organisationen erfassen. Dafür werden alle Aufrufe der um das Trackingscript erweiterten Daten registriert. Das panel-basierte Verfahren registriert nur Aufrufe teilnehmender Probanden, dafür aber deren gesamte Nutzung des Internets. Diese Daten werden an einen Server übertragen, auf dem die Informationen aller Teilnehmer zusammenfließen und einen sehr genauen Einblick in das Internetverhalten einer Zielgruppe bilden. Durch den Einsatz eines Panels gelingt es ausserdem die Verhaltensdaten um zusätzliche Informationen wie z.B. demographische Daten zu erweitern.
